Entertaiment is a broad term referring to any activity that entertains or amuses a person. The word is often associated with amusement and humour, although many entertainments have a serious purpose (such as ceremonial occasions, religious festivals and satire). Entertainment may involve any of the arts – music, theatre, dance or games – or it may be a sedentary activity such as watching TV or using a tablet computer. The way people engage with entertainment has changed dramatically over the past century, as has the range and quality of products available for sale or free distribution. However, certain forms of entertainment remain constant throughout history – storytelling, music and play are among the most timeless forms of entertainment.
