Daily news is a type of newspaper which is published every day. It contains a variety of stories on topics such as current events, politics, and sports. This type of newspaper usually includes pictures as well. It is a great way to stay informed on what is going on in the world.

The Yale Daily News is the nation’s oldest college daily and serves the university community at large throughout the academic year. Yale students have a long tradition of writing and publishing in the Daily News, many of whom have gone on to notable careers in journalism and public life, including William F. Buckley, Lan Samantha Chang, John Hersey, Paul Steiger, Sam Donaldson, Joseph Lieberman, Daniel Yergin and others.

Founded in 1919, the Daily News attracted readers with sensational coverage of crime, scandal and violence, lurid photographs and cartoons. In the 1950s, it competed with its even more sensational rival, the New York Post, for circulation. In the 1990s, under a series of editors-in-chief, the Daily News earned a reputation for its commitment to protecting First Amendment rights and championing the welfare and rights of New York City residents who were often overlooked by other media outlets. It won a Pulitzer Prize for Distinguished Commentary in 1996 for E.R. Shipp’s pieces on race and welfare and another in 1998 for Mike McAlary’s reporting of police brutality against Haitian immigrant Abner Louima.

By the turn of the 21st century, the Daily News struggled to regain its former prestige and profitability. It lost its home in the News Building and switched to a one-story office in midtown Manhattan. In 1995, it launched its quarterly and later monthly insert BET Weekend for African Americans and also began a weekly Caribbean edition.
